Former Michigan Governor in position for Cabinet
WASHINGTON D.C. — President-elect Joe Biden is expected to nominate a former Michigan governor to his Cabinet.
Jennifer Granholm, who served as Michigan’s Attorney General from 1999-2003 before taking over as governor until 2011, is expected to be named as Joe Biden’s Secretary of Energy.
Granholm also served for President Barack Obama as a member of his transition team in 2009. If confirmed by the Senate, Biden will have nine women in his initial cabinet- a record for a sitting U.S President, breaking the records previously set by the Obama and Clinton administrations.
Granholm’s term as Secretary of Energy will begin in January.
