Farmers’ Market has more than food

ALPENA, Mich. — There’s a lot more than food in store at the Farmers’ Market this summer.

There’s always plenty to find at the Alpena Farmers’ Market, from fresh produce and baked goods, to local art.

However, after the COVID–19 pandemic, it may be easy to forget that the market offers other services for the community as well. Three separate events take place in July alone! These include a rummage sale, and a community health day that offers vision screenings, CPR training, and other services.

Volunteer coordinator Linda Canfield says one new event is “Grow Sports Day.”

“We’re going to have tables set up and ask people for donations for the [sports] equipment for their children at a reduced rate. And all the sports entities will be here if they want to register their children for sports.”

The Farmers’ Market also has plans to bring back Kids Day this September. You can learn more on their website.
