Dr. Joneigh Khaldun to leave Whitmer Administration

LANSING, Mich. – Michigan’s Chief Medical Executive Dr. Joneigh Khaldun has decided to leave her position and move on to the private sector.

Governor Whitmer made the announcement Friday.

Doctor Khaldun who’s had a pivotal role in the Whitmer Administration during the pandemic will leave October first.

Whitmer appointed Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian as Chief Medical Executive.

The governor said she looks forward to working with Doctor Bagdasarian to fight the COVID–19 pandemic and keep Michigan healthy.

The state of Michigan plans to conduct a nation–wide search to select a permanent chief medical executive.
