Cold early Wednesday; Chance of showers will move in early Thursday

Highs Tuesday afternoon only got up to 71 degrees in Alpena, 70 degrees in Houghton, Mich. and 80 degrees in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Partly clear skies, light winds and high pressure overhead will all give way to cool temperatures overnight. Predawn lows early Wednesday will drop to about 49 degrees. Early-morning temperatures will be in the 50s, and temperatures will rise to the 60s in the late-morning. Highs will reach about 74 degrees Wednesday afternoon.

Wednesday: Cool early, mostly cloudy. Predawn temperatures will be in the upper 40s. Afternoon highs will get close to 74 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the upper 60s.

Thursday: Scattered showers will move in early and continue until about midday. Predawn temperatures will be milder, in the upper 50s. Late-morning temperatures will rise to nearly 70 degrees. Afternoon highs will reach 82 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the upper 70s.

Friday: Partly cloudy and warmer. Early-morning temperatures will be in the lower 60s. Temperatures will get into the lower 70s in the late-morning. Afternoon highs will warm up to 86 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the upper 70s.

Winds out of the southwest will bring warmer temperatures into our area Thursday and Friday, bringing us highs in the 80s. A cold front will move through our area Sunday, providing slightly cooler temperatures.
