As the New Year approaches, many individuals are gearing up to tackle popular resolutions such as exercising more and losing weight. However, the challenge lies in maintaining consistency. Debbie Cook, the Front Desk Supervisor, sheds light on fitness options to help people achieve their goals, “They can come and use the fitness center. We also have tennis courts and pickleball that people can use. So, we have a lot of people that use the fitness center.”

Consistency is key when it comes to fitness resolutions, and finding enjoyable forms of exercise is crucial to reaping the full benefits of an active lifestyle. A group of avid pickleball players at APlex shared their tips for starting the New Year on the right foot. Annette Trefla, local pickleball player said, “Just stay active. Move. Get off the couch and move.” Fellow player, Charlie Simone added his thoughts, “Exercise, exercise, exercise, eat right, listen to your wife.”

Beyond the physical benefits, many individuals discover a sense of community through their fitness endeavors. For example, Aplex has become a meeting ground for Genschaw and fellow exercise enthusiasts, “It’s part of my schedule now to come here, and it’s a good part. Instead of going to a bar to meet somewhere, this is where we meet, and it’s a healthy environment, so, we like it.” This sense of accountability has been impactful, helping Genschaw maintain a consistent exercise routine for twelve years. As we step into 2024, it’s a prime time to plan and New Year’s resolutions, especially in the realm of fitness.
