Boycott list of businesses circulating locally

ALPENA, Mich. — An Alpena resident said she has concerns about a Facebook post that could potentially hurt local businesses.

An anonymous do– not– support list targeting Alpena area businesses has been circulating on Facebook.  The creator of the list recommends that certain businesses not be supported because of their owner’s political views and/or sexual orientation.  The list also recommends businesses to support.

The owner of a local photography business said in a Facebook post that her business was added to the  do–not–support list and she would like to know what she did to make the cut.  The business owner added that luckily she does not rely solely on her business to sustain herself but there are many others that do.

Alpena Area Chamber of Commerce President & CEO,  Adam Poll, said this is a tough time for all businesses and they should all be supported.

Poll added that the chamber is working to make sure the local business climate is the best it can be so that all local businesses can thrive.
