Blue Cross Blue Shield extends benefits for members

ALPENA, Mich — Great news for Blue Cross Blue Shield members as no-cost benefits for COVID–19 treatment has been extended throughout the end of the year.

Since March members have not had the worry of cost sharing for COVID–19 related treatment in the way of co-pays, deductibles and coinsurance.

While front-line workers have helped to flatten the curve on the Coronavirus pandemic, COVID–19 still remains in the communities.

This is what prompted the decision to extend the benefits according to Vice President of Communications Andy Hetzel.

Hetzel wants members to have less stress on them should they contract the virus.

Hetzel confirmed that Blue Cross Blue Shield estimates spending approximately 150 million in additional benefits during the pandemic.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of continuing to wash your hands and wear masks.

Hetzel says this will help prevent a second wave and get us all back to work which will help our economy
