Alpena MI – Conditions will began to go downhill as we head into the evening hours and overnight hours. Heavy blowing drifting snow, strong winds and visibilities levels will be close to zero at times. Winds could get as high as 65 mph maybe an isolated 70 mph gusts can not be ruled out. That would be strong enough to knock down trees and powerlines and also push cars. Tonight we will have heavy snow in the area with snowfall amounts up to 15 inches in spots very windy with lows in the middle to upper 20s. Winds will be out of the northeast at 30-35 mph with gusts as high as 65 mph with 70 mph gusts in isolated spots. Tomorrow will be more of the same; heavy blowing and drifting snow along with very strong winds. Winds could be as strong as 60 mph at times and snowfall amounts up to 18 inches. High temperatures will be in the lower 30s. After the winter storm passes through the cold air sets in and we will have highs only reach the teens and overnight lows in the single digits to subzero readings.
