Besser Elementary celebrates students around Alpena
ALPENA, Mich.– Besser Elementary has transformed a monthly ceremony for the COVID era.
Paws the bulldog normally helps declare Besser Elementary’s students of the month during an assembly.
This year, however, he and the faculty found a new way to congratulate students for good behavior.
The faculty helps Paws find new places in the community to announce the winners in a Facebook video every month.
Dean of Students Tracey Urlaub says paws is having a lot of fun.
Teachers nominate students for the honor based on good behavior, respect, and kindness to others.
Urlaub says that still holds true online; students just show it differently.
She adds that kids and parents have taken to the new program rather well
