Amber Hess resigns from Alpena City Council

ALPENA, Mich. – An Alpena City Council member has officially resigned.

Amber Hess has submitted her letter of resignation effective August 20.

She said she will no longer live within city limits.

Hess was elected in 2017. WBKB spoke with Mayor Waligora about the upcoming vacancy and a what a new member could expect.

“We’re requesting anybody that’s interested in filling the vacancy which will be from the time we make that selection which could be mid – September until January 1 which is when her (Hess) would’ve expired.

Mayor Waligora said candidates must be at least 18 years old and a city resident for at least a year.

Waligora said the council has 30 days to appoint a replacement after Hess leaves her position.
