Alpena Township to hosts public input sessions June 23 and 24

ALPENA, Mich. – Alpena Township Board of Trustees is preparing to review their proposed fire services contract with the city in a special meeting

The board will meet Wednesday to review contract terms. Specifically, fees for services.

The board sent the proposed draft to the city a few weeks ago with a proposed fee of over $387,000 for services.

However, the city countered that number and voted to charge the township $400,000 a year for 15 years.

Also up for discussion Wednesday is the need for a public input session.

“We’re gearing towards a decision to made at our next board meeting and that we’d have our public input session on the 23rd or 24th, that we discussed at our previous meeting at 6pm,” said Alpena Township Supervisor Nathan Skibbe. “We’re trying to hammer out logistics of the running of our online meeting potentials at the Aplex.”

Skibbe says the input sessions will more than likely take place at the township building due to those technical challenges.

Tomorrow’s special meeting is at 11 a.m.
