An Alpena man is facing a list of charges after allegedly choking a woman on Sunday.
Michigan State Police troopers were called to a home in Alpena Township and spoke with the woman who had clear injuries to her face and neck. She claims 45-year-old Scott Smith had done it after the two had an argument over the phone earlier that day. She said she managed to escape and enter a neighbors home.
With the help of their canine unit, troopers were able to find Smith trying to hide in a hole behind the house where the alleged assault occurred.
He faces one count of home invasion first degree, one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, one count of domestic violence third offense and one count of resisting and obstructing police. His bond was set at $100,000.
