Alpena County Road Commission Urges Caution for Drivers When Their Plows are on the Roads

The snow came a little later than expected but it certainly has arrived.

The wet snow is making driving a difficult and somewhat dangerous task and the Alpena County Road Commission is out in full force to clear up the roads. They say they’ve received a number of complaints recently about plows driving in the middle of the road to clear them and motorists passing them too often.

Managing Director Ryan Brege said he wants drivers to take their time when they come across one of their vehicles. “What I want people to realize is in order to clear that center line we have to get out on it and we’re certainly allowed to do that,” he said. “When they see a plow approaching and see those lights we need them to slow down, move over, and give them some room.”

More snow is expected throughout the week.
