Alpena beats Sault Area for a second time this season 57-41

ALPENA, MI – The Wildcats had a rough Big North matchup last Friday against Petoskey which kept them from grabbing their third straight win. The guys were back home again this week for their game against Sault Area. Now these two teams already faced each other back in December and Alpena got the win by over 20 points. You can bet the Wildcats are hoping for a similar result with this second meeting.

The Blue Devils came out of the gate hot trying to get revenge off that last loss. Callen Campbell spins into the paint then passes out to Dominic Haller. The Junior puts it up for three and scores.

Sault Area once again on the attack. Max Scott is gonna find Haller again this time in the corner. He tries for another three and hits it again.

Second quarter now and Alpena is down by one. Ryan Voltz gets the ball in traffic and fights in the paint to make the layup

Fast break now for Alpena. Cooper Bright makes the pass to his brother Tucker and the younger brother has the lane to lay it up and in for the Wildcats off the assist from Cooper.

Time running low in the first half. Max Scott is gonna pull up on the wing with three seconds remining. he tries for a three-pointer to end the half and he nails it. The Blue Devils go into halftime trailing but look to use that shot for momentum.

Cooper Bright with the ball again, tries to drive in but passes out. Devin Lamay now on the wing. He tries to pull up a shot from mid range and he sinks the two-pointer.

Now on the wing for Alpena is Austin Prue. He passes it off to Cooper Bright. Prue then sets the screen for Bright who finds Prue back in the paint to make the layup off the picture perfect pick and roll.

Now Cooper can make a play happen with some help, but he can also do it by himself. Bright drives through multiple defenders to finish the play right at the rim for Alpena.

Bright is gonna get the ball once again as he tries for a pull up jumper with a defender all up in his grill. Still no issue there for Bright on that play who drains the shot.

That’s win number two for Alpena against the Blue Devils as the Wildcats bounce back from last Friday’s loss. Final score is 57–41. Alpena will hit the road for one quick game on Friday when they take on Traverse City Western.
