Animals Killed After Barn Catches Fire in Lachine
A barn is a total loss after a fire fully engulfed it on Cousineau Road in Lachine.
Led by the Green Township Fire Department, crews arrived to find the barn already almost down to the ground. Wilson and Long Rapids Township Fire Departments also assisted in getting control of the fire.
According to Green Township Fire Chief Tim Wade, there were at least two chickens and two sheep that died in the fire. The rest of the animals escaped.
Chief Wade said the owners believe the fire started from a heater in the corner of the barn.
