City firefighters receive pay raise

ALPENA, MI. – Alpena’s first responders  are prepared to put their lives on the line everyday. A pay raise will help to meet that sacrifice. Low pay drove the loss of one existing employee and three new hires to other departments. Bill Forbush addressed this problem with a solid plan. He also recognized the critical shortage of paramedics. This adjustment has pushed starting pay for firefighters to 13.77 an hour and firefighter paramedics at 17.29 an hour.
