5th Down: Week Five
Week five of high school football brought plenty of action and highlight worthy plays. WBKB Sports visited several schools around the area to capture some of the best moments of week five.
The Posen Vikings (5-0) hosted the Mio Thunderbolts (1-4) on Thursday night. The Vikings took down the Thunderbolts by a final score of 48-2. Coming up, Posen hosts Rock Mid Peninsula (0-3) and Mio welcomes in Au Gres-Sims on September 29.
The game of the week was none other than the War on the Shore. The Tawas Braves (1-4) hosted their well-known rivals, the Oscoda Owls (2-3) on Friday night. The Owls stretched their winning streak to a historic seven in a row with the 38-23 victory over Tawas. Oscoda travels to Harbor Springs (0-5) and the Braves host Frankfort (5-0) on September 29.
The Hillman Tigers (0-5) welcomed in the Au Gres-Sims Wolverines (5-0) in their Friday matchup. The Wolverines secured the 68-0 victory over Hillman. Up next, the Wolverines travel to Mio on September 29.
The Alcona Tigers (4-1) hosted the Charlton Heston Patriots (0-5) on Friday. Alcona defeated the Patriots by a final score of 60-0. The Tigers welcome in the Onaway Cardinals (3-2) on September 29.
