The 5th Down: Week Nine
The regular season of high school football has come to an end. WBKB Sports visited local schools around the area to catch all of this week’s top highlights.
The Alpena Wildcats (1-8) wrapped their year by hosting the St Johns Red Wings. It was a close game but St Johns prevailed by a final score of 28-13. Over in Au Gres, the Posen Vikings (8-0) concluded their season with another victory. The Vikings took the 46-42 victory over the Au Gres-Sims Wolverines (7-2). Posen also secured the North Star League Little Dipper division Champion title from the reigning champion Wolverines.
The Alcona Tigers (8-1) hosted the Whittemore-Prescott Cardinals (3-6) in their final regular season game. Alcona defeated Whittemore-Prescott by a final score of 54-0 winning the NSL Big Dipper division title. The Hillman Tigers (1-8) visited the Rogers City Hurons (5-4) on Friday night. The Hurons came out on top with the 48-10 victory over Hillman.
Playoff brackets are expected to be released on October 21.
