Steamy Saturday and Sunday; Hurricane heading toward Florida

July Fourth will feel steamy. Temperatures around the kickoff of the parade at 1 p.m. will warm to the lower/middle 80s. Afternoon highs will soar to the upper 80s along with added humidity. Fireworks viewing temperatures will remain warm, in the middle 70s.

Over the weekend, seek relief from the heat. Try to spend time in air-conditioned places, and seek shade when outside. Drink plenty of water, note that high amounts of alcohol and caffeine will cause dehydration. Wear loose-fitting and light-colored clothing, also reapply sunscreen every two hours when spending time under the sun.

High temperatures today reached 75 degrees in Alpena and 76 degrees in Saginaw, Michigan. Notice the heat building out west, where the high got up to 85 degrees in Minneapolis. Those hotter temperatures will build into our area over the holiday weekend.
