Small Fowl Show at the Alpena County Fair
The Alpena County Fair is still in full swing and on Monday young contestants showed up to show off their feathery friends.
Growing and keeping their chickens healthy, these participants were eager to show off their birds. The judge looks at their feathers, beaks, feet and crown as well as the contestants themselves to determine where they place.
One of Monday’s first place winners was Madelynn Cameron. She won with the help of her chicken Cruella Deville. “I’ve been showing chickens for three years,” she said. “I started with goats and then I saw the chickens and I really wanted to do them and my grandma has chickens. So, she inspired me.”
The commitment and drive it takes to raise these chickens shows what these young contestants are capable of and that determination will show up later in life as they grow themselves.
