Shelly Kosal Competes in World Senior Curling Championship

BARTON CITY, MI- From throwing stones with her father at a young age all the way to competing in the World Championships in South Korea, curling has always been a passion for Shelly Kosal.

What started out as a hobby has turned into a passion and a success story for Kosal, her and her team have won eight national championships. The group has also medaled on three separate occasions at the world championships. They took home the silver in the 2022 championships in Switzerland.

“It is an absolute thrill to represent your country. Being able to stand there as a representative of the USA” said Kosal.   This time around she represented the United States in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The site of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

While Shelly has accomplished a great deal during her curling career there is still one more dream to achieve. ” I want that gold medal. Me and my skip Margie have been together competing for a long time. We have been together for eight national championships. We’ve been close.  We have won two silvers and a bronze.”

After the long trip home for Kosal, the group is taking some time off before preparation for the 2024 championships.

Kosal is a member of the Lewiston Curling Club in Lewiston, MI.
