Rogers City holds first council meeting of the year

ROGERS CITY, — Rogers City held their council meeting tonight highlighting the rezoning of a vacant property, authorization of upcoming parades, and the moratorium on utility bills.

The council voted unanimously to follow legislation and not perform any water shutoffs or include a five percent late fee for missed payments.

Also discussed was the approval of all upcoming parades for the year.  However, organizations will need to continue turning in their requests to host parades.

The council discussed the vacant home at 177 superior street.  Rogers City Manager Joe Hefele said there’s a couple interested in restoring the home but it first needs to be rezoned from commercial to residential.  Hefele said they will revisit adoption of the rezoning at their next council meeting.
