‘Pumpkins and Potions’ at Rusty Petunia’s

The period in between Halloween and Christmas is one that is often forgotten when it comes to décor and celebration.

Not on Wednesday evening at Rusty Petunia’s for ‘Pumpkins and Potions,’ an event where people gathered in the craft room to enjoy a drink and design a pumpkin.

“They decorated a pumpkin for your tablescape and they had fresh moss and fresh greenery and everything like that they decorate on there, and we added a little fun cocktail to go along with the Pumpkins and Potions,” said bartender and wine sommelier at Rusty Petunia’s Miya Ayala.

This is the second year Rusty Petunia’s has hosted this event, and doing so gives them a rewarding feeling.

“A lot of those individuals are regulars and we get to see them and just to have them as our regulars and to have their business is truly a privilege, and we couldn’t be happier at Rusty Petunia’s to have their business,” said Rusty Petunia’s assistant manager Teegan Birch. “We just appreciate them.”

This event was a chance for people to get out of the house and do something in the evening, which people don’t usually have the chance to do in Alpena during the fall season.

“Since we live in northern Michigan, there’s not a lot of things to do outside since it’s not the tourist season anymore,” said Birch. “So this is a great way to bring people in and it’s very community–centered and it’s really appreciated.”

Rusty Petunia’s is also hosting an event in December centered around wrapping Christmas gifts.
