Oscoda Family Opens First Biggby Coffee in the Area

Jim Rowden wanted to help the community that has helped him throughout his life. He and his wife, Melanie, looked through several different franchises to bring to Oscoda, and settled on Biggby Coffee because they are a Michigan-based business.

“We’re from Michigan and I believe in giving back to the community,” said Rowden. “They’ve given a lot to us throughout the years, so this is why we’re doing this for the community, and to bring something different and new to Oscoda.”

They started the process of bringing the franchise to Oscoda about a year ago, and that process has been slow and gradual, but they continue to work through it.

The Rowdens reached out to Brandon Moore of M–Co Construction, another local company, and they have been pleased with the work they’ve done.

“It’s going to be a big change for Oscoda,” said Moore. “It’s going to bring a lot of new jobs and new opportunities, so we’re really looking forward to getting this completed for him.”

This is the first Biggby franchise in Oscoda, and bringing something unique, with Michigan ties, was important for the Rowden family.

“We’ve had a tremendous outpouring of support, and we’ve been talked about quite a bit,” said Rowden. “To be honest with you, it’s just exciting because people are excited. They want the newer stuff I guess, which is good, and we’re going to bring it.”

While it’s a new spot for the community to enjoy, they are also looking forward to the economic benefits it can bring for Oscoda.

“I’m really excited for it just to help out the town,” said Moore. “It’s going to bring in, like I said, new jobs, new opportunities, and we really need that to grow, so it’s going to be great.”

There is not an official date for a grand opening just yet, but the Rowden family says the progress is good and they will keep the community posted.
