MidMichigan Medical Center Alpena Unveils New Patient Tower Plans

MidMichigan Medical Center Alpena is on the move. The hospital is planning on making major changes. MidMichigan Medical Center Alpens is looking to make patients and their families more relaxed during their stay at the medical center.

The hospital showcased new plans and photos of the future patient tower. The hospital rooms now were built in the 1940’s through the 1980’s. 80% of the hospital beds inside of the hospital aren’t private.

The ER sees about 25,000 patients a year, that side of the hospital became the main focus before this tower was considered to be on the priority list. The new layout will also help medical teams when treating patients.

The new patient tower will be located right in front of the hospital and a new power plant will be placed at the back of the hospital. The new patient tower would hide some parts of the old hospital but connect each floor together.

Sherwin predicts that the new patient tower project will take at least 2–2 1/2 years to complete when constructions begins.
