Logan Timm Breaks MHSAA Single-Season Steals Record

POSEN, MI – The Posen Vikings welcomed in the Mackinaw City Comets on Tuesday night. The matchup turned into a thriller for many reasons. One of those being Logan Timm, who was only two steals away from breaking the MHSAA single-season record.

Posen’s longstanding single-season steals record was only captured by Timm a few days ago on February 15. John Wekwert previously held the record in 1982 with 129 steals. Timm added another 14 steals in the Vikings 64-16 victory over Au Gres-Sims on Friday.

Heading into Tuesday’s game, Timm only needed two steals to top the MHSAA single-season list. With a little over a minute left in the first quarter, the senior stole the ball taking it to the other end for a layup. Timm now tops the single-season steals category with a total of 161. Howard City Tri-County’s Dylan Matulis originally held the record with 156 steals during the 2015-2016 season.

“I’m just happy that he’s able to accomplish it so that way it recognizes our program and recognizes our school,” said Head Coach Chris Keller. “Now he’ll be the only player from Posen to be in the top one of these records.”

In what turned out to be a nail-biter of a finish, the Vikings fell to the Comets by a final score of 50-48. Timm recorded six steals and finished with 20 points.
