Local governments receiving aid from American Rescue Plan

ALPENA, Mich. — Individuals aren’t the only ones receiving stimulus payments from the new American Rescue Plan.

Local governments in Michigan were allotted $4.22 billion in stimulus aid from the new relief package, according to the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Reform.

Based on projections from the U.S Treasury reported by the National Association of Counties, Alpena County would receive $5,508,975 in funding from the bill.

Alcona County will get $2,017,986. $4,873,227 will go to Iosco County, Montmorency County will receive $1,809,108, Oscoda County will be paid $1,598,291 and Presque Isle will be provided with $2,442,141 in federal funding.

As for cities and townships, the City of Alpena will receive $983,040 and Alpena Township will be granted $863,665 according to data reported by Crain’s. Other local municipalities also received funding.
