Local Audiologist Partnership With Huron Humane Society A Great Success

A local audiology office, Northern Hearing Services, is giving patients the opportunity to hear meows.

While shelter staff give animals food, love, and care to prepare them for new homes, help from fosters can create a world of difference in socializing pets. Local audiology office, northern hearing services has partnered with one of our pets of the week shelters, Huron Humane Society to help the felines. Jennifer Gruschke, Northern Hearing Services audiologist said, “They have been bringing a cat, a different cat, sometimes the same cat every Monday. So, they get to spend the day with us and interact with patients and hopefully get adopted. It’s been really fantastic.”

These cats have free roam of the space and have become quite popular. “We actually have patients that want to schedule appoints on Mondays so they can be there when the cats are there,” said Gruschke.

The staff is full of animal lovers and has been doing this partnership with The Huron Humane Society for two years. The result? Many happy patients and cats with new families. “We love cats, we love dogs, and this just seemed like a fun way to interact and hopefully find homes for the cats that need love and need a place to be,” said Gruschke. “We love that we have the opportunity to help with that.”

With over fifty cats at the shelter, Huron Humane Society manager, Ashley Hilberg is grateful for the support. “We can always use fosters, there’s always moms that don’t accept her kittens, there are times where something happens to the mother and the kittens are alone,” said Hilberg. “We always could always use the extra help because we are busy helping all these animals and trying to find homes for them. The more cats and dogs we’re able to get out, the more we’re able to help.”

If you are interested in volunteering, donating, or doing a similar partnership, be sure to reach out the Huron Humane Society at 989–356–4794. If looking to adopt, they are also currently doing a Bissell event offering 25 dollar base adoption fees for qualifying cats that are fully vaccinated and micro chipped.
