Kids Gear Up For Back to School Event at Alpena Mall

ALPENA, Mich. [WBKB] — The Back to School Event was a huge success at Alpena mall Friday with kids and their parents gearing up for the 2016 – 2017 school year.
This year’s event featured live entertainment from True North Radio Network, rock climbing, vendors from the Boys and Girls Scouts, and Rite Aid.
The Masons Child ID Program was also in attendance as well as the Kids Fitness and Nutrition Club.
One goal this year is to get kids that aren’t involved with sports up and moving.
Fitness manager, Erin Graham said the Back to School Event is important so that kids can start this year right.
“I think it’s important for kids to get excited to go back to school. For them to come together and maybe see a classmate that they hadn’t seen over the summer or just really get excited to go back to school…to learn, to get back into the swing of things. I think this event helps kick it off,” Graham said.
The Alpena Public Schools start date is September 6.
