Health department warns of possible COVID-19 exposure at Hillman reception

ALPENA, Mich. —  District Health Department No. 4 (DHD4) is alerting the public of a possible COVID19 exposure in the area.

Individuals who were present at the listed location(s), at the designated time, have the potential for exposure:

September 11, 2020 

  • Northwood Lodge, 2390 S Straits Hwy, Indian River, Michigan late evening

September 12, 2020 

  • Northwood Lodge, 2390 S Straits Hwy, Indian River, Michigan until 12:00 p.m.

September 12, 2020

  • Wedding at Cross in the Woods, 7078 M-68, Indian River, Michigan from 1-2 p.m.
  • Reception at Hillman Community Center, 24220 Veterans Memorial Hwy, Hillman, Michigan from 6-11:30 pm

Individuals should monitor for symptoms consistent with COVID-19 for 14 days from exposure date. If symptoms do not develop within 14 days of the identified dates, there is nothing to be done. Those that develop symptoms within 14 days of the identified dates should contact their doctor and consider COVID-19 testing.

The health department continues to urge residents and visitors to stay home if they are sick and wear a mask in public places.  The department also recommends that residents maintain social distancing – at least six feet; avoid large gatherings; wash their hands frequently for at least 20 seconds; avoid touching their face and disinfect commonly touched surfaces.

The department wars that right now, large gatherings are one of the major ways COVID-19 is being spread.
