Fire contract negotiations continued

ALPENA, Mich. — The Township and City continued contract negotiations at Monday’s council meeting. The City proposed changes to the fire services contract presented by the Township board.

Township Supervisor Nathan Skibbe said the county ambulance millage pays for fire and EMS services.  The current contract ends July 1. Skibbe added that he wants the best possible service in a cost effective way.

The next public input session will be at the Township Hall located at 4385 23 North on June 24, at 6:00 p.m.

The next scheduled board meeting will be on June 28, where a decision will be made.
