Fairview HS Seniors Take First Senior Trip in Over Decade

Fairview- It’s been over a decade since a senior class has taken a trip at Fairview Area School but this year is different.

“We’re kind of using ours as an opportunity to make a difference and see a different place,” said Senior Tylor Ross.

This isn’t your typical senior trip full of entertainment and relaxation. Eleven of the twenty seniors will be traveling to Rockport, Texas to help those affected by Hurricane. So far, the Seniors have written letters to relatives and even put on a pancake breakfast for the Fairview community. With those efforts, the group has raised just over $4,000 toward their goal of $6,000.

“I think we’re going to leave a mark on our school and show other people that are coming up to the senior position that it’s awesome to help other people and to set aside your busy schedule and really make a difference,” said Senior Olivia Nutt.

With three weeks left until the trip, students are planning new fundraisers to help close the gap. The money will be used to cover expenses and help the students get down to Texas. Once they arrive, the students will get to work, helping rebuild homes, clean up debris, and do miscellaneous chores to help those who have lost everything from the hurricane.

Donations can be mailed or dropped off at Fairview Area Schools- 1879 E Miller Rd, Fairview, MI 48621.
