Emergency food assistance benefits increased

LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services gained federal approval to continue additional emergency food assistance benefits.  more than 1.25 million people in close to 700,000 Michigan homes will benefit.

Some Michiganders began receiving food assistance in April 2020 after the beginning of the pandemic.  Households eligible for SNAP benefits now receive an increase of $95 monthly.

Governor Whitmer thanked the Biden administration for helping feed millions of Michiganders.

Eligible clients will see additional benefits on their Bridge card by July 27.
