‘Elements of Art’ Fundraiser at Art in the Loft

Art in the Loft has held a fundraiser annually for over 15 years, and Thursday they celebrated ‘Elements of Art,’ in conjunction with their newest exhibit.

People turned out dressed in silver and gold, enjoyed charcuterie snacks, great drinks, and even a live band.

“It’s all in the name of art, so tonight we’re trying to raise money not only for our scholarship program, but just to continue our efforts towards bringing arts to northeast Michigan,” said Art in the Loft executive director Justin Christensen-Cooper.

Art in the Loft could not put on the fundraiser or continue to bring art to northeast Michigan without the support of the community, and their relationship with the people of Alpena is something they cherish, especially on a night like this.

“Everybody comes together for the loft and it’s really a big community,” said Art in the Loft gallery manager Kendra McInerney. “We love all our classes that we put on, we work with the public school systems for art classes, and we’re just kind of a big old family, everybody’s involved, so it’s not too hard when we put on a fundraiser. People come out for a good cause.”

There was a silent auction and a live auction all going towards Art in the Loft, as this event always happens at this time in the fall.

“We can’t do what we do unless our community shows up and not only donates their money but their time,” said Christensen-Cooper. “We have wonderful volunteers helping us tonight to make sure an event like this can happen, but again we need people to show up, buy tickets for events like this and bid on our packages so we can do what we do.”

The annual fundraiser at Art in the Loft ran until 7:30 pm on Thursday.
