Dockside Cafe owner shares emotional thoughts on fire

HARRISVILLE, Mich. — The 3–year–old Harrisville Dockside Café caught fire Tuesday evening around 7 p.m.  The owner, Rebecca Good,  shared her emotional moment when finding out about the fire.  Good said on top of everything, the fire happened on her husband’s birthday.

Harrisville Fire Chief Daniel Klukowski said he and his crew were at the harbor when passersby informed them of the fire at the Dockside Cafe.  Upon arrival, Klukowski said heavy smoke was coming from the back of the building.

Dockside’s Manager Melissa Page said she is still in disbelief and found it difficult not having anywhere to go Wednesday morning.

Chief Klukowski said they arrived on scene within moments.  He credits Greenbush, Lincoln Alcona and Mikado Townships for the part they played in helping extinguish the flames.

Good remains heartbroken but optimistic about a reopen.

Chief Klukowski said there were no injuries in the café or at the adjacent building.  He added that the Alcona County Sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the fire.
