Congressman Bergman says it’s time for Michiganders to go back to work

ALPENA, Mich. — Congressman Jack Bergman (R-MI) attended the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for Northland Area Federal Credit Union.  While in Alpena, the Congressman sat down with WBKB for a wide-ranging interview touching on several topics, including the January 6 violence at the U.S. Capitol.  Bergman said he voted against establishing a commission to investigate the insurrection because he believed it would be politicized.

“I had zero confidence that this commission as we watched it grow wasn’t going to be political so I said, no.  I’m not going to do political here,” said Bergman.  “The American people deserve better,” he said.

When asked about the economy, Congressman Bergman said the government has made it easy for people to sit at home.

“We need the governor in Michigan to do like so many other governors have done and said no more extra unemployment benefits, it’s time for you to go back to work,” he said.

Bergman represents Michigan’s 1st Congressional District.
