Applications being accepted for Youth Advisory Council grant

ALPENA, Mich. — The Community Foundation of Northeast Michigan is accepting applications for its Youth Advisory Council grant.

YAC is a philanthropic program that began in the 90’s and benefits youth under the age of 18.  In the past, grants have been given to Alcona Community Schools, Alpena Public Schools, the Boys and Girls Club and Alpena Gymnastics to name a few.

Every three years a youth assessment is done where students provide feedback on what they feel the top ten issues are at the time.  According to youth foundation program officer, Kara Bauer LeMonds, some of the issues identified by youth have been related to mental health.

Nonprofit and government agencies in Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency, and Presque Isle counties are invited to apply.  The application deadline is October 15 and the maximum request amount for YAC grants is $2500.
