Alpena’s Alison Jakubcin Earns Health Impact Award from the Governor’s Office

As part of the 2022 Governor’s Service Awards, Alpena’s Alison Jakubcin has been given the Health Impact Award. She’s one of seven across the state to receive the award.

These awards are given to those who go above and beyond and play a critical role in improving lives of people and communities.

In 2018, Jakubcin was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. However, she’s fought through and has done a lot through volunteer work in the community. She wanted to show people you can live with it, get by, and live a normal life. “It’s not always easy, because it’s a painful disease to have,” she said. “Overcoming that and advocating for people with rheumatoid arthritis that you can still live a normal life and that it doesn’t have to control you.”

Jakubcin is one of 46 individuals and businesses that received awards this year.
