(Photo Courtesy/Kimberly Kimble) 'The photo above titled, 'This Is Us' won the Fresh 48 contest for the 2019 IAPBP Image Competition.

An Alpena native is making headlines for her photography in a niche category. Kimberly Kimble won a best in category award from the 2019 International Association of Professional Birth Photographers.

The Alpena native who now lives in Sherwood, Oregon won the ‘fresh 48 category’ for her photo titled, ”This is Us.’ Fresh 48 means 48 hours after a mother gives birth.
For Kimble, the picture tells a beautiful story, and she was happy to capture that special moment.

“This couple just embodied that love and that connection that you feel, at least in the first couple days after a baby is born,” said Kimble. “It’s just a magical feeling before all of the sleep deprivation and crying sets in.”

The photo has been featured on websites like Buzzfeed and Huffington Post. Kimble began exploring photography back in high school. She found her niche in birth photography only a few years ago.

It’s led to a lot of beautiful moments and success. Kimberly has three children of her own and is happily married, living in Oregon. She was the only U.S. photographer to win in the judged portion of the contest. Take a look at her pictures by checking out her photography business https://www.rushesandwaves.com
