Alpena may be the new hotspot

ALPENA, Mich. — Target Alpena’s Director of Economic Development Mike Mahler said he could not have scripted this better as the Social District contributes to downtown Alpena’s economic growth.

Mahler said most of the downtown restaurants plan to participate in the Social District program which began today.  Before now, he noticed heavier traffic on Chisholm Street and contributes that to the new businesses in the area.  He said anyone familiar with downtown will say it has not looked this good in about 40 years.

Mahler has received interest from people wanting to start more new local businesses.  He looks forward to the momentum of a more booming downtown.
