Alpena Hockey Captain Anden Marceau Signs with Peoria Mustangs

ALPENA, MI- Alpena Hockey Senior Captain Anden Marceau signed a contract with the Peoria Mustangs, where he will begin his junior hockey career. The Mustangs based out of Peoria, Illinois compete in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL).

Marceau has one been one of the driving forces behind the Wildcats 20-3 regular season, which has seen them make an appearance in the top 5 of many different Michigan state rankings. He has scored 27 goals and dished out 35 assists in 21 games played as a senior. The Wildcats are 20-1 this season when Marceau plays.

” I have been talking to their coaches and it just seems like the best place where I can go play and start my junior career” said Marceau.  Talks with the Mustangs really became serious after the Trenton Showcase. Marceau scored four goals in a win over University Liggett. “After the Trenton showcase I was able to talk with a bunch of teams and they jumped out over all the other teams. They want to help their guys get to the highest level.”

Alpena Head Coach Ben Henry, who also serves as a regional scout for the Mustangs is not surprised at all that Marceau was so heavily coveted at the next level. “There is a laundry list of reasons why people want Anden. What sets him above most kids is his shot and his vision on the ice. You don’t typically see that with high school kids.”

A four year member of the varsity team, Marceau has scored a career total of 93 goals. With at least three games left to play, and as many as seven games left it is not out of the question that Marceau could hit the century mark.

While Marceau is looking forward to joining the Mustangs for the 2023-24 season, he and his current teammates know they have a lot more that they want to accomplish. ” We want to win the state championship. We are hoping for a big crowd for the regional tournament. We are going to keep winning.”

Marceau along with the rest of Alpena’s senior class with enjoy their senior night festivities on Friday against Traverse City Central.  The final game of the 2022-23 regular season.
