It was another ‘Good Morning Alpena, as local residents, organizations, and businesses gathered for another breakfast this time to see what’s growing in the area.

There were a lot of anniversaries to note including the upcoming 50th celebration for the Alpena Library.

“This library was founded in 1967. We’re having a special 50th anniversary gala on June 10th. We just got confirmation yesterday on a special guest from the state library is going to be here,” Library Director, Eric Magness-Eubanks said.

The non-profit homeless organization, Sunrise Mission revealed that they were in need of expansion in order to do more training to help fit the needs for the growing population of homeless people they serve.

“We see the needs are being greater, but not the numbers are being greater. We are looking to expand the services that we can offer,” board members of the Sunrise Mission explained.

The Alpena Farmers Market was also in the building and revealed that they were moving back outdoors this weekend, and working on ways to expand the farmers market with some fundraiser events.

Presque Isle Farms also gave an update on the produce that would be produced in the coming weeks, and more much more.
