Alpena Fire Chief Bill Forbush Takes His Final Ride Home

After 12 years with the Alpena City Fire Department, Fire Chief Bill Forbush is taking his final ride home. Chief Forbush had this to say about his time in Alpena, “It’s wonderful, we have the best crew around the firefighters, paramedics are tremendous, the city’s administration’s great, and the citizens are super supportive.” He added on, “This was the last 12 years of my full–time 40 year career. I’m gonna go on and do some more volunteer work and do some things still, but it’s quite a change.”

The one thing the Chief wanted to do was show and talk about his appreciation for not only the city and county, but the citizens also. “I just want to thank the community, our citizens throughout Alpena County have become accustomed to the quality of service this department has provided, and it has been an absolute honor to serve each and every one of them.” Chief Forbush continued with, “This department does about 5000 ems calls a year on behalf of Alpena County, and I’m very proud to have been its leader for the last 12 years, the level of service is excellent, and the cooperation from the citizens is what makes it all possible.”

After a 40 year career, when Chief Forbush was asked about taking a well-deserved vacation, this is what he had to say, “No, we’re not really planning that quite yet, but we do have an RV and we’re gonna do some traveling now that we haven’t been able to do before.” He finished it with, “Two of my three sons live in Seattle, Washington, so will be able to get there more often, and that’s exciting. It was hard to do at work, and now I’ll have the time.”
