ACC January meeting update

ALPENA, Mich. — The Alpena Community College held their regular meeting Thursday, Jan 21 and discussed the update on the Van Lare Hall renovations and provided the amount distributed to students from the Cares Act Hardship dollars.

Renovations for Van Lare Hall are still under way.  The project was expected to be completed in spring of 2021 but is now  projected to open at the end of July.

Other items discussed were the purchase of additional technology for the school and the distribution of the Cares Act Hardship dollars given to students this past March. ACC President Dr. Don MacMaster provided the amount of money distributed and said this was part of the first stimulus bill.

Dr. MacMaster added that there has been a 4 percent decline in enrollment at ACC which he attributes to COVID.  He said this is not that bad compared to national data which shows four–year colleges and universities being hit harder.
