MICHIGAN — 2020 was a strong year for one invasive bug, so the Michigan DNR advises residents to be on the lookout this year.

The European Gypsy moth arrived in North America around 1987. They eat away at multiple tree species and harm the ecosystem. Researchers say coniferous trees, like pines and evergreens, are especially at risk for infestation.

They add that the problem is at its worst since the moth first arrived.
