8th Annual Thunder Bay Bass Classic Results

ALPENA, MI – Boats full of bass returned to the Alpena Boat Harbor on Sunday while anglers waited at the weigh station to find out if they earned a top spot in the 8th Annual Thunder Bay Bass Classic.

The tournament wrapped up with an award ceremony full of prize money and trophies. First place went to Paul Gohlke and Billy McQuarrie, weighing in at 19.3 pounds. No strangers to winning, the men secured their fifth tournament win.

Gohlke and McQuarrie have competed in the Bass Classic since the very beginning. With five wins under their belts, what is the key to their success? “We found a new area yesterday and it panned out today,” said Gohlke. “Things didn’t go right for awhile, and we made adjustments, and ended up having a really good day,” added McQuarrie.

Additionally, plenty of other skilled anglers were on the water. The biggest bass of the tournament was caught by Trevor Zolnierek and Ethan Thatcher. The biggest fish ever weighed at the Brown Trout Bass Classic was an impressive 5.06 pounds.

The Brown Trout Festival events keep rolling as anglers flock to the marina to participate in the action.
