Warmer temperatures arriving Wednesday with a chance of showers late

High temperatures today reached the lower 40s for most of Northeast Michigan. Winds were light and variable for most, but a gentle breeze off of Lake Huron kept temperatures a little a cooler in Rogers City, Oscoda and Tawas City.

Clear skies will remain over our area tonight through tomorrow morning. A warm front currently across the Plains will advance to the east, bringing increasing cloud cover tomorrow afternoon and a chance of rain showers in the evening.

Tomorrow will start with sunshine in the morning and temperatures in the middle to upper 20s. More cloud cover will build in the afternoon, and winds out of the south will bring warmer temperatures, reaching the lower 50s. A few rain showers are possible tomorrow evening.

In addition to increasing temperatures, wind speeds will also increase tomorrow. The day will start with wind speeds about 10 mph, then increase close to 20 mph tomorrow evening with some higher gusts as well, remaining windy into the overnight hours. Wind speeds will gradually decrease on Thursday, easing to about 5 mph by Thursday night.

Warmer temperatures will continue through Thursday. A few rain showers are possible late Wednesday and early Thursday. Thursday morning will begin with warm temperatures, around the upper 30s, then reaching the lower 50s again with clearing skies. Slightly cooler air will arrive Friday, then sharply colder on Saturday with winds out of the north.
