The gift of tuition this holiday season

ALPENA, Mich. — If you’re undecided on gifts for the little ones this holiday season, how about tuition over toys?

Michigan Education Trust encourages families to give the gift of college credits this year.  This prepaid tuition program provides the opportunity to start a college savings plan for a child’s future.  According to the director of MET, Diane Brewer, you don’t have to be the parent to start saving for a college education.

This opportunity is open to aunts, uncles, friends and family and the way it works is you can buy the child one hour of college credit for as little as one $125.

Brewer added that by saving a little each month, family members prepare financially for the growing expense of college.
