ALPENA, Mich. — The Rotary Club of Alpena worked on beautifying Island Mill Park this past weekend.

15 Rotarians planted over 50 trees and flower bushes Saturday morning. Thanks to their hard work, the island’s now lined with freshly–mulched hydrangeas and a few crimson oaks.

Special Projects Coordinator Steve Wright said the club gave their green thumbs a stretch to make the island pop.

“We were looking for color. Looking for color we needed. There was plenty of green on the island, which is great, but we want some other colors as well.”

Wright also told WBKB that many people aren’t aware of the Rotary Island Mill Park.

If you want to stop and smell the flowers, you can take the bridge by the NOAA building or the one by the Boys and Girls Club.
