Registration forms for parade floats are now being accepted

ALPENA, Mich.— It’s that time of year again for community members to tap into their creative side in preparation for the annual Bolenz Jewelry holiday parade. The Alpena Chamber of Commerce is now accepting registration forms for parade floats.

Local businesses, nonprofit organizations and residents are welcome to sign up. Participants are required to construct a float centered around a holiday Christmas theme and will be scored in three different categories. All contenders are eligible for prizes.

The parade will begin at the Annex building parking lot and will end behind Alpena City Hall. This year, attendees will be required to wear a mask and to social distance.

Owner of Bolenz Jewelry Wayne Calkins says, “Specific details about safety precautions are still in discussion, but he encourages everyone to attend.”

The deadline to submit a float application is Monday, November 23 by 5 pm. Registration forms can be found at the Chamber of Commerce.

Late registrations will not be accepted. The parade is scheduled to kick off Friday, November 27 at 5:30 pm.
